This bronze monument has been commisioned to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Works Division. It is now placed at the Lija Roundabout.

The Works & Services Department (previously known as the Works Division) falls within the remit of the Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure (MTI) and was set up in 1992.  Over the years it has undergone various changes in the number of Departments that fall under its responsibility.  At present it comprises the Project Design & Engineering Directorate , the Projects Implementation Directorate , the Restoration Directorate, the Manufacturing & Services Directorate, the Cleansing Services Directorate and the Maintenance Directorate.  Other units that fall under the responsibility of the Director General (Works & Services) are the Door Numbering Unit, the Legal Office, the Project Monitoring Unit, the Marine & Storm Water Unit, the Architectural Consultancy Unit, the Valley Management Unit, the Quality Assurance Unit and the Occupational Health & Safety Unit.
