MISSION STATEMENT:
To provide a comprehensive quality service to Government in the design and implementation of public infrastructure works and projects, thus contributing to develop, improve and restore Malta’s economy in accordance with its needs and resources.

The Project Design & Implementaion Department (PDID) (previously known as the Works Division) falls within the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs (MRRA) and was set up in 1992. Over the years it has undergone various changes in the number of Departments that fall under its responsibility. At present it comprises the Project Design & Engineering Directorate (PDE), the Projects Implementation Directorate (PRJ) and the Restoration Directorate (RES). Other units that fall under the responsibility of the Director General (Project Design & Implementation) are the Door Numbering Unit, the Legal Office and the Project Monitoring Unit.
The Project Design & Implementaion Department employs around 900 employees with around 530 of them pertaining to the industrial grades. This makes the Department one of the main blue–collar entities within the Public Service.
